There are plenty of hypnosis conferences out there, but the Michigan International Hypnosis Conference stands apart. Dan and Heather do a fantastic job organising it, and this year it really lived up to its tagline “collaboration over competition.”
What struck me was how natural it felt. There wasn’t too much pitching and everyone seemed to respect each other’s different approaches. It made for an atmosphere that was open, relaxed, and genuinely collaborative.
The conference kicked off with Carolina Ching, who set the tone perfectly with her energy and perspective. . Then, at the other end, Vinnie Brigance closed the event with the same spark, big energy, big presence, and plenty to take away.
And then there was Alan Sands. His talk was excellent throughout, but for me, the way he wrapped it up was worth the trip alone.

Like most events, the real magic often happens in the hallways and over food. Michigan felt like a meeting of extended family.
I had the chance to reconnect with Joni Neidigh. We won Hypnotist of the Year and Innovations in Hypnosis together back in 2022, and she has been a great friend ever since. I also caught up with Michael Brody (and of course Norbert), and it was a real honour to present him with Stage Hypnotist of the Year at the awards dinner. That was a moment I will treasure.
Outside the conference, I found myself at Puppet Karaoke in a Detroit community theatre. It was one of those random, joyful experiences that stays with you. Even now, thinking about it makes me smile.
It was brilliant to see so many International Stage Hypnotist Association members wearing their purple pins. Stage hypnosis was right there alongside hypnotherapy and business sessions, and the variety made the whole programme stronger.
On a personal note, it was also an emotional conference. This was the last time I saw my good friend Jim Kellner in person. His presence was felt throughout the weekend. Talking with Nora Noble and later seeing her accept the Jim Kellner Award at the dinner was a powerful reminder of the impact he had. There was not a dry eye at our table.
There are too many names to mention, but I have got to give a nod to Jobeth for a fantastic mentalism show, and to Jeff Benink for keeping me safe (again).
The Michigan International Hypnosis Conference had attendees from all over the globe including the UK, the Netherlands, and even Australia, and every single one brought something to the mix.
If you are thinking about attending a hypnosis conference that combines learning, community, and inspiration, make this one a priority. You will leave with new ideas, genuine friendships, and memories that last long after you are home.
